Another Appliance Story

First, some pics:

Can you see the theme of his outfit?

Camping Trip! Too bad we didn't camp. But it's still a cute outfit.

This boy is all about standing and looking out the window/door.

It's been an interesting week. A while ago, our Volvo stopped starting. We figured it was the battery. Finally Behn bought a new battery at Wal-Mart and put it himself. I was really proud of him! It's been working well since then.

The day after he put in the battery, our clothes dryer stopped working. Again. 3rd time in one year. It's an older dryer, but still, it's dumb that it keeps on breaking. The first time they fixed it for free (under warranty). The 2nd time they charged us (too much), but Behn's loving parents helped us with that. The third time we decided we don't want to give these people another dime to fix this hunk of metal. Behn went into the shop and told them we'd like to exchange it and they's better cut us a great deal. They agreed, but didn't have any used dryers in stock.

The NEXT day (yesterday), Behn got a call from a co-worker.

Steven: "Hey Behn, can you help me with something?"

Behn: "Sure, what's up?"

Steven: " Well, (co-worker) Linda is giving me her old dryer. I have one, but figured I'd take hers off her hands and store it in case I need it."

Behn: "Reaaallllly..."

Long story short, Steven was more than happy to let us get the dryer. Behn and I were thrilled, especially since Behn specifically prayed that God would send us a new dryer. This was akin to the Chest Freezer Story!

It wasn't as easy this time though. Behn and Steven picked up the dryer and when I saw it, I realized it was as old as me. Doesn't matter, as long as it works. But then, because it's as old as me, it had a really old power cord with 3 prongs. Our dryer outlet has 4 prongs. We were discouraged, but figured we could buy an adapter.

No adapter was to be found, but Behn did find this nifty how-to video on Youtube. This morning he began the process of re-wiring the cords. Ancient nuts and bolts proved difficult to remove (poor guy cut up his fingers) and we ended up at Lowe's for more equipped tools. But after much patience and $19 in new drill bits, he was able to wire the new power cord onto the "new" dryer and IT WORKS! Whew! Thank You, Lord!

It amazes me how little faith and patience I have at times. God comes through, everyday. Even when it's not easy, He's trying to teach us something..how to trust in Him...how to let go of anxiety...and how to install car batteries and re-wire dryers.

I'm pretty proud of Behn! He's doing a great job learning these things.

Gotta go, off to the Lake now. Another update to come.
