End of the Week Pics

Image
Ok, so these are mostly all pictures of the boys, but that's mostly what I capture on my iPhone. Will have to try to take more variety for next time! Gorgeous maple tree on the street where we stayed in Boston Father and Son reunited! Patrick stayed in Daddy's arms for 10 minutes.  Throwing rocks in the neighborhood creek This one says he doesn't need naps anymore...and then he falls asleep for 2 hours. Yeah, you still need naps, kiddo. I need you to need naps. Someone enjoyed his chocolate chip pumpkin pancakes today! Behn's fan mail to Andrew Miller, the Red Sox player who gave us our tickets. Happy Weekend!

Top 6 Boston Moments

Image
Behn and I just had the most amazing weekend in Boston. It was our first 'no kid' getaway since becoming parents, and it was also a late 5-year anniversary trip, since I was still nursing Patrick during our anniversary last June. So, without further ado, here are my top 6 (I couldn't limit it to 5) moments in Boston! 1. Museum of Fine Arts- I loved going to the Museum of Fine Arts. I don't know how long it's been since I've been to an art museum, but it's been a while. We were trying to do things on this trip that are hard to do when you have little ones. The whole time we strolled around the museum, I thought, "I am so glad the kids aren't with us in here!" It have us time to really enjoy the art. It was a drizzly, dark day outside; a perfect day to be in a museum...except that it was so warm and dark and quiet in there, we felt like we could have taken a nap. 2. Harvard and Harvard Square- on Sunday after church we headed to H

Saying Goodbye to the 4Runner

Image
4 years ago, when Behn and I were just a young, married couple with big hopes and dreams, we bought a 4Runner. We hoped it would take us on lots of adventures (it did) and that we could fill it with kids (we did). You can read about that post here  (see item #4). Fast forward 4 years and we have 2 boys and a mortgage. In an attempt to be more fiscally responsible than the U.S. government, we decided it was time to sell our fun, trendy car and go for the used mini-van. We don't need a mini-van yet. The 4Runner easily fit all of us and our junk when we traveled. But it was a good financial decision and also...we know we're not done growing this family yet! No, this is definitely not a pregnancy announcement, or even an adoption announcement. But, someday, we hope there will be more kids. That 4Runner was great though. We always felt safe; it was very reliable. We never had a breakdown or a big issue. That car rushed me to the hospital twice while I was leaking amniotic fluid

What Graham Said

1. As Graham and Patrick were rough housing on the floor: "Patrick's my favorite brother." 2. Well, Graham is pretty interested in anatomy right now, so trips out in public are a bit...interesting. Let's just say that Graham likes to tell people what body parts they have. Oh, and a friend of mine if pregnant and I explained to Graham that there's a baby in her belly. So....he started telling other  ladies (complete strangers) that they might have a baby in their belly. Awkward! 3. Now when I've been kissing Graham's cheek, he's been wiping it off, and saying, "No mama kiss." Mama's a bit sad about this BUT it's just too bad, Graham. I'm gonna be kissing you for a LONG time yet!

Bean Tostadas

Image
Hey all! So, here's a recipe that I made up this week- it was really good and I want to make it again soon. We really enjoyed these vegetarian bean tostadas; they aren't exactly calorie free, but there's worse things you can eat. Here's what you will need: tortillas (I used flour, but you could use corn) vegetable oil 1 can of black beans 1 can of diced tomatoes with green chilis (I used RoTel) 4 oz. of cream cheese 2 cups of cheddar cheese (roughly...I mean, I didn't actually measure this) 1/2 packet of taco seasoning anything else you want to add- I added chopped black olives. You could add onion, peppers, or other vegetables, too! 1. Dump the can of rinsed beans, can of tomatoes, cream cheese, and taco seasoning into a saucepan over low-medium heat. Just go ahead and let that mess simmer for 20 minutes. Then, take it off the heat and set it aside; it will thicken at this point. 2. While the pot of beans is simmering, heat a pan with the oil and

Autumn Time

Image
It's Fall around these parts, which means I've been baking pumpkin bread... ...and making butternut squash macaroni (no pic, but it was really good!)... ...and hanging cute stuff like this (thanks, Mom!)... ...and going to places like apple orchards/farms (and a pumpkin patch this upcoming weekend)... ...and in general just enjoying cooler air and the leaves beginning to change... Thankful and blessed by all these very good things! Tomorrow I will try to post a fun recipe I made up- it's not a 'fall' recipe, but it was so good I want to share.
