A Weekend in NC

I have only a few minutes- Graham is being needy right now- but wanted to recap our fun weekend last weekend. I need to find the camera to include a few pictures, but we had lots of good times with Emily and Seth in their new town. They had fun showing us around; I'm seriously jealous of all the awesome trails and parks they have right outside their front door! Greensboro also has tons of shopping ;-) Tempting! Saturday it was rainy, so we pretty much roamed the mall and some other stores, but we had lunch at a pub downtown- Natty Green's. Loved that! That evening we had a cozy fire and watched a movie. Sunday the weather cleared up a bit, so we were able to go on a hike. It was cold, but refreshing to be outside. Of course, Graham loved playing with Aunt Em and Uncle Seth and Shane the dog. It's wonderful to be less than 3 hours from these people we love so much!

P.S. Emily made me some awesome chocolate peanut butter cupcakes for my birthday while I was there- they had a Reece in the middle. Be jealous, they were amazing!

    lol we had fun too! seth just ate a "chocolate muffin" as he calls them...but i think it's high time i toss them out!

Ok, few dear readers, I haven't heard from you much lately. Which I get...because sometimes this blog is kind of BOOOORRRRING! Patrick Wilford is Here!

Both of my boys (what, I have 2 boys?) are napping right now, so it's time to update this blog with Patrick's birth story before I forget the details. Words to describe Patrick's birth: terrifying. fast. wonderful. merciful. unforgettable. We'll start with Friday, September 7th. I had my 39 week OB appointment and was 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Promising, but no guarantee I'd go into labor too soon. However, I did go ahead and schedule an elective induction for the following Tuesday (the 11th) because I liked the idea of knowing I'd make it to the hospital, plus my favorite doctor was on call that day, plus Behn had that whole week off of work so I knew he'd be there for everything. Off the Bookshelf

I haven't done one of these in a while, but I have been reading. Here is what is on my bookshelf: The Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson I first got to know Clarkson when I read the book Desperate, which she co-authored with Sarah Mae. I friend from church had raved about Clarkson, and so lent me this book when I showed interest in more of her writing. I'm only a few chapters in, but loving it so far. And, frankly, I really need to be reading these sort of books right now, in the throes of "Stop it!" "Don't kick your brother!" "Obey me RIGHT NOW" and the never ending dishes...the early mornings...the snotty noses...the incessant whining...the poopy diapers...in all the ordinary and mundane that is motherhood. To be reminded this is a mission- gives it so much more significance.
