Exhausted

Don't have the energy for desire to write up a fun post today. Graham has been sick with a fever/cold, so the past 2 nights he's only slept a few hours. 'Funny' thing is, you'd think he'd be exhausted and nap during the day- not my boy. He was awake almost the whole day yesterday and has already refused his nap this morning. How does he do it? He's actually just playing like normal. I guess the Tylenol makes him feel ok. Of course, Frankie's here too and the two of them took turns waking the other up during naps yesterday. The house is so small, they can hear each other so easily.  I'm so tired and thankful tomorrow Behn will be home. I can't do this on my own for another day. The good news is, it's going to be nice outside today, so at least we can be out there for part of the day.

    In our new home out here in CA the biggest adjustment for me is that the girls share a room and that their bedroom is in the middle of this one story home. They keep each other up and wake each other up. I know of what you speak, and it is so difficult

    In retrospect...my body was working hard on knitting together a new baby during this time. No wonder I was tired!

Ok, few dear readers, I haven't heard from you much lately. Which I get...because sometimes this blog is kind of BOOOORRRRING! Patrick Wilford is Here!

Both of my boys (what, I have 2 boys?) are napping right now, so it's time to update this blog with Patrick's birth story before I forget the details. Words to describe Patrick's birth: terrifying. fast. wonderful. merciful. unforgettable. We'll start with Friday, September 7th. I had my 39 week OB appointment and was 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Promising, but no guarantee I'd go into labor too soon. However, I did go ahead and schedule an elective induction for the following Tuesday (the 11th) because I liked the idea of knowing I'd make it to the hospital, plus my favorite doctor was on call that day, plus Behn had that whole week off of work so I knew he'd be there for everything. Off the Bookshelf

I haven't done one of these in a while, but I have been reading. Here is what is on my bookshelf: The Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson I first got to know Clarkson when I read the book Desperate, which she co-authored with Sarah Mae. I friend from church had raved about Clarkson, and so lent me this book when I showed interest in more of her writing. I'm only a few chapters in, but loving it so far. And, frankly, I really need to be reading these sort of books right now, in the throes of "Stop it!" "Don't kick your brother!" "Obey me RIGHT NOW" and the never ending dishes...the early mornings...the snotty noses...the incessant whining...the poopy diapers...in all the ordinary and mundane that is motherhood. To be reminded this is a mission- gives it so much more significance.
