Back in the summer of 2014, we 5 Cathey ladies (my mom and the 4 of us daughters) all got together and spent a long weekend away. It was so fun, and we knew we wanted to go for it again. This time it was winter, not summer, but we still had JUST as much fun. Big thanks to my mom for her sweet generosity and my sister Emily who really helped with the planning. This time we ventured to Alexandria, VA on the coldest weekend ever. We started by meeting up for lunch and then shopping at the Outlets near National Harbor all day (Saturday). Being 30 weeks pregnant, I didn't buy any clothes, but really enjoyed everyone's company and watching my pretty sisters try on clothes. Later on, we got to our hotel and then took the complimentary shuttle to a fun Mexican restaurant. It was freezing out, so afterwards we pretty much just went back to the hotel for the night. Ah, I just woke up from a wonderful rainy day nap. The boys are still down and I am relishing  this moment. We had a great weekend! We went on our first family of 4 hike, which felt great and was appropriately exhausting. Must throw rocks in the river at any opportunity! I am loving baby-wearing! Thanks for the wrap, mom! On Saturday we went to Roanoke to shop. We are NOT mall people. And we can't justify hauling our big SUV 50 miles down the highway just for nothin', so we rarely go to Roanoke. But this time, we needed some actual stuff. Behn got a great business suit to wear for interviews and also just because now he's a Master's degreed professional and should look like it. I needed and found cute shoes to wear for my sister Hannah's wedding this weekend. All in all, a fun day. Shopping with 2 kids isn't easy, but they both did great and we were all in good spirits! Okay, so I need to catch up a bit! 2 weekends ago we headed on down to Greensboro again to celebrate Emily's birthday and meet up with Luke, Jess, and Lily. On Saturday we surprised Emmy by getting there early and enjoyed pizza at Mellow Mushroom. That place was trippy. The pizza was really good, but you really do feel like you're at a hippie joint, complete with background music sung by someone who was clearly very high  on weed  life. It was a fun little outing though. Then we did pool and, later, baseball game! Greensboro Grasshoppers, baby! The next day we worshiped at Emily and Seth's new church and met up with Luke, Jess and Lilybug. During the afternoon, the guys cooked out for the girls and then we all had a picnic lunch. That night, after the babies were down, we had a little ice cream cake in honor of the Birthday Lady. We stayed up late chatting and laughing. Hello to anyone checking me out from Amanda @ wanderingonpurpose . It was so sweet of her to nominate me for a Liebster Award, and soon I'll do my official Liebster post. When I saw she'd nominated me, I thought about quickly writing up some sort of witty, interesting post to captivate ya'll...but then decided that I'll just be myself and do what I normally do: update the world (read: a few friends and family) about our goings-on. Last weekend was bliss. A sweet friend of mine, Nancy, from church invited me and a couple of other church friends to spend a night at her parents' lake home at Smith Mountain Lake. I haven't been away from Graham for a night since he was born, so I was very excited about this! Behn was really sweet and encouraging of the trip, even though it meant he was on daddy-duty for a full 24 hours. He's really great with G, so I wasn't worried one bit. The lake was amazing! Today turned out lovely, a perfect May afternoon. This was most welcome after another rainy Saturday. After G woke up from his nap and had a late lunch, we went on a family walk on the Chessie trail. One of my motivations is I am stinkin' out of shape. Like, bad (skinny-fat). I've been getting winded watering the garden with a watering can- shame on me! So going on a 2 mile walk was perfect and I felt great! We kept the pace up for the first mile and pushed G in his stroller. Then we let him hop out and play down by the river. Homeboy loved it. He threw rocks, splashed, and got his toes wet. And he plopped down on his bottom and got that wet too, but no harm done. Then we walked back, although it was a bit slower the 2nd mile, since G wanted to walk by himself for part of it. He picked up sticks, observed butterflies, and chased the ball he'd brought with him. Every once in a while we have a special day as a family. You can't really plan ahead on these things...especially with an unpredictable toddler and a mood-swinging pregnant Megan. Things just fall into place: the weather, our moods, our activities. Days like these are to be treasured :) Saturday was like that. Beautiful, full of sweet moments as a family. First we went to the local Scots/Irish Festival. Gotta get our groove on with those bagpipes from time to time. Saw lots of kilts, men throwing rocks, bagpipes, and our favorite: a sheep dog trial demonstration.  Graham really enjoyed watching the sheep and the dog. The dog owner/trainer was really cool and explained everything. Those sheep dogs are stinkin' smart. After we came home, had lunch and Graham and I napped (Behn did chores such as washing the car because he is awesome), we decided to go to Boxerwood Garden. A long-awaited for, over-due post. We've been busy with the ins and outs of life and enjoying lots of time outside lately. Two weekends ago, I had it in my head to take Graham to the local zoo. Behn agreed it would be a fun family outing, so we decided to go that Saturday. The weather was gorgeous all week. And that day when we woke up- it was pouring. I do not like to change my plans. I'm a little stubborn that way. I also don't like being stuck inside on the weekends. So, we decided to go ahead and go, pray for sun, and see what happened! This is what happened: It was not raining on the drive there. When we pulled up, it poured. As we toured the zoo, it poured. We all got wet. Towards the end, it was only drizzling and much better. And as we left...wait for it... the sun came out shining! Yep, it rained almost the whole time we were there and was lovely the rest of the day. But, we still had lots of fun! I guess February is not our best month for blogging. Hope to have more interesting posts up soon. It's only 11 a.m., but we've had a sweet little Saturday morning. Behn got up with G at 6:30 so I could sleep, so that was a treat. After I got up, we all went out. I could kick myself for not remembering the camera, but I'll write it out anyway. First we got fresh coffee and donuts at this adorable little cafe in Lexington called Pure Eats. It's a new place and has that diner feel, but a small menu. Only donuts and coffee for breakfast, and only burgers, fries, and shakes for lunch/dinner, with an occasional special on a soup thrown into the mix. The best part is, everything is from the local farmers! (The beef and other ingredients they use, as much as can be bought locally.) Love supporting our small town and farmers. While we were in there, every person was so kindly greeted, often by name, by the owners. It's just that great small-town, friendly feel. No matter w...

This weekend has been perfect (except for the freeeeezing temps!). No agenda. Few commitments. Family time, movie time, lunch at a restaurant, great conversations, worship, and rest. Even a nap, which is extremely rare for me. I needed every minute of this break of a weekend. So did Behn. And Graham, picking up on the happiness and peacefulness of his parents, has been as lovely as ever. What a sweet respite in the business and stress of life. Thank You, Lord! Blessed be your name! P.S. Side note: I'm done breastfeeding Graham! Tonight if he wakes up, he gets a bottle of whole milk. He loves his bottle and has only been breastfeeding 1-2 times in 24 hours anyway, so it's been an easy transition. I'm ready to be done! It was so special and I'm thrilled I did it this long. So healthy for us both :) All good things must come to an end. I'm FREE!!

...stomach bug! What a stinky (literally) weekend. Behn came home really, really sick from work on Friday morning. He was in bed (and bathroom) with a stomach virus all day. I kept the babies downstairs and prayed the rest of us wouldn't get it. Friday night, since Behn was sleeping, I put Graham to bed and then Hannah and I went out with some friends for dessert. This mama NEEDED a girl's night!! When we got back, Hannah and I watched a movie, talked and then called it a night around 12:30 (VERY late for me). I went to check in G before turning in, and he was peacefully sleeping...in a puddle of puke! Poor, stinky boy! Behn helped me change the sheets and wash him, and then he slept with us the rest of the night, so I could monitor his stomach. He seemed fine, but in the morning threw up again. Anyways, long story short, I thought he was doing better, but last night and this morning, he has experienced the "other" portion of the illness. Needless to say, I'm not ...
