Graham at 11 Months

Waaaahh! It's the last month of Graham being under a year old! How did this happen???


At 11 Months:



  • He weighs 21 lbs (we took him to the doc because of a bad cold and he got weighed

  • He is starting to stand without holding on to anything...but only for a few seconds and then PLOP!

  • If you say, 'where's Daddy?' when Daddy is out of the room, he looks around all concerned and then squeals in delight when Daddy enters the room.

  • Makes lots more sounds. Yesterday he said 'mama' when prompted!

  • Still doesn't sleep well. Hardly naps and is still up at night, especially lately with a tooth coming in and a really bad cold. He wakes up coughing or congested. It's been a hard month.

  • Has one tooth on top! Still waiting on the one next to it and the two below.

  • Is always clapping, bouncing, and doing other cutesy interactive things :)

  • Has become more of a picky eater with solid foods, but still eats ok. I think beginning the process of weaning in the next few months is going to be hard. He loves nursing!

  • Now cries if you take something from him. Oh, human nature, you just can't be avoided!

  • Chuckles, teases, then chuckles some more. Example:

Me: "Graham, give me a kiss."


Graham chuckles and turns away.


Me: "Graham, Mommy really needs a kiss. Please?"


Graham smiles, leans in, gives minimal effort smooch, then chuckles some more.


I think that's a pretty good summary. He's our little love!

    That is great he is such a good nurser! It it so healthy for him and you.

Ok, few dear readers, I haven't heard from you much lately. Which I get...because sometimes this blog is kind of BOOOORRRRING! How We Will Be Spending Our Summer

Yesterday we got our fingerprints done. Because obviously people don't just go get a casual set of fingerprints done, there must be a reason, right? The reason is that this summer our little family will be hosting a little girl from Ukraine! V is living in an orphanage, but this summer she will get to experience the love of a family as we welcome her to our home. She is so young, only 6, and it breaks our heart that kids grow up in orphanages. We are thrilled that God has called us to be part of her life. Behn and I have always felt the draw to care for orphans and kids from hard places. We actually went to Ukraine on an Orphan Care trip 5 years ago. (Read about it here ). When God led us to buy a house with a extra space, we knew we wanted to share it; we just did not know how we would. And now we do know- this summer it will be filled with a little girl. Patrick Wilford is Here!

Both of my boys (what, I have 2 boys?) are napping right now, so it's time to update this blog with Patrick's birth story before I forget the details. Words to describe Patrick's birth: terrifying. fast. wonderful. merciful. unforgettable. We'll start with Friday, September 7th. I had my 39 week OB appointment and was 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Promising, but no guarantee I'd go into labor too soon. However, I did go ahead and schedule an elective induction for the following Tuesday (the 11th) because I liked the idea of knowing I'd make it to the hospital, plus my favorite doctor was on call that day, plus Behn had that whole week off of work so I knew he'd be there for everything.
