Mr. Mom

Image
Starting last weekend, I am working a second part-time job for the extra cash. I'm doing respite care (read: babysitting) for a family who has special needs kids. So not only do I make some money, I feel like I'm helping out. Anyway, during these hours, I can't have Graham with me and have to leave him with Behn. I worked on Sunday after church from 1-6. I wasn't nervous at all leaving Graham- Behn is a great dad! When I left, Graham was sleeping, in a disposbale diaper (because we had put it on for church), and had a full tummy (I left Behn some milk that I'd pumped during the week). When I came home hours later, Graham was happy and smiling, fed, and in a clean cloth diaper. Behn said Graham had slept for a long time, allowing him to get some homework done and then they had enjoyed the rest of the afternoon together. I knew my husband would do a great job! I love the men in my life! I am so grateful to have a loving, nurturing husband who is gentle and responsible...

Lil' G: 2 months!

Not the best sleeper at night, but getting better. Has found his hands! And is always trying to get his fist in his mouth now. Is awesome at going down for a nap. Just swaddle him up, turn on the white noise, and in a few minutes, he's out. Love that I don't have to rock him to sleep constantly. Still wearing 0-3 month clothes and they fit him well. I'd be a little sad if he was already in 3-6 month stuff. Still mostly bald, heehee :) Tomorrow we'll find out how much he weighs! Stay tuned...

Romantic?

Question, since it's Valentine's Day: What do you consider "romantic?" I did not marry a romantic guy, at least not in the typical ways that people tend to think of being romantic. Not that he's never romantic, but it's not really his thing. He's sweet, selfless, and so good to me. And so, my ideas about romance have changed. Behn doesn't suprise me with getaways, make me fancy dinners, light candles, and has never written me a poem. But he does bring home flowers sometimes. He always brings me coffee in bed in the morning. He takes out the trash. He does the taxes; actually he does all of our financial stuff. He keeps our cars serviced and running. He is in grad school, working hard to provide for his family. He hugs me and makes me feel secure. He serves me in so many ways, and now I consider that to be romantic. On our first year dating when Valentine's Day came around, we both decided to stay in, get Chinese food, and watch a movie. And that...

In my own words-Behn's Account of Graham's Birth

Hello everyone, it has been a while since I've posted (Megan is the main poster of this page, as you can see). Lately I've been getting adjusted to fatherhood as well as my second semester of grad school. The two courses I'm taking are Intro to Information Management, and the Organization of Information (a very technical and challenging course). I like school, but am also glad that this program is only 2 years. Lord willing, a year and a half from now, I will be attending my graduation from the University of North Texas MLIS program. I love my job, and I am happy that God has made my career path clear. I didn't always think I would pursue a career in libraries, but this is where the Lord has led me. I can't believe Graham is almost two months old already. He truly is a joy to have in our lives. Megan really is a natural when it comes to motherhood. I find myself paying more attention to babies now than I ever have now that I have my own son. Having a child...

Graham at 8 weeks

Graham does this new thing when he's tired. He nestles down on my chest and seriously cuddles with me, then dozes off. It melts my heart! I'm enjoying being a stay-at-home mom. I've been staying really busy most days, but there is down time and I'm enjoying it. This is really what I've always wanted, from the time I was a kid. I am not taking it for granted! I am babysitting a 3-month old little guy as well, part time this month, starting full time next month. The days when I have both boys are a lot harder, but still a joy. We'll get into a routine and figure out a new normal. The boys will grow and learn to play together and soon the weather will be nice. I see the three of us spending a lot of time outside to pass the day. Cloth diapering is going well! The diapers really are well-made and I've had very few leaks. So far, my favorite is using a Thirsties cover over an old-fashioned white diaper cloth. Works for us! I can hang the clean, wet diapers on our...
