Scattered Thoughts

Trying to kill a few more minutes before we can LEAVE FOR CHRISTMAS BREAK!! Yippee!! Random thoughts:

  • Longest day ever. Oh the anticipation (the advent, really) of a trip to see family!
  • We had a 3-poo day here. One from my guy and 2 from his buddy. Just love 3 poo days. Especially when one of them includes a wardrobe change.
  • Lovely, mild weather! We romped around in the yard, went for a walk, and enjoyed the nice temps. Doesn't feel like December but that's OK with me :) Cheaper utility bill.
  • I just pulled a dried macaroni noodle from my hair. The hair I just had cut today, for the 1st time in 3 1/2 months.
  • Graham can take 5 steps now. He is just so proud of himself!
  • Graham is wearing his new plaid shirt today. NOTHING like a baby boy in plaid. I think that's the reason I wanted a boy: so I could dress him in a plaid flannel shirt. And speaking of plaid, just wait until you see him in his Christmas outfit. Lots of pictures to come.
  • Should be packing. Can't find camera battery charger.
  • I am jacked up on sugar (can you tell?). My Dad sent me chocolate covered strawberries yesterday, just to 'sweeten my day.' So thoughtful and appreciated! 
Ok, I HAVE to finish packing now!

Ok, few dear readers, I haven't heard from you much lately. Which I get...because sometimes this blog is kind of BOOOORRRRING! So, just for fun, here's what is going on currently: Currently Watching: Downton Abbey , like the rest of the world. The heard the season finale on Sunday is 'devastating.' How can anything be more devastating than episode 4?? Patrick Wilford is Here!

Both of my boys (what, I have 2 boys?) are napping right now, so it's time to update this blog with Patrick's birth story before I forget the details. Words to describe Patrick's birth: terrifying. fast. wonderful. merciful. unforgettable. We'll start with Friday, September 7th. I had my 39 week OB appointment and was 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Promising, but no guarantee I'd go into labor too soon. However, I did go ahead and schedule an elective induction for the following Tuesday (the 11th) because I liked the idea of knowing I'd make it to the hospital, plus my favorite doctor was on call that day, plus Behn had that whole week off of work so I knew he'd be there for everything. So it just made sense, even though I did want to try to have another natural childbirth. On Saturday (the 8th), I was excited because I knew there was a coldfront coming in. Off the Bookshelf

I haven't done one of these in a while, but I have been reading. Here is what is on my bookshelf: The Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson I first got to know Clarkson when I read the book Desperate, which she co-authored with Sarah Mae. I friend from church had raved about Clarkson, and so lent me this book when I showed interest in more of her writing. I'm only a few chapters in, but loving it so far. And, frankly, I really need to be reading these sort of books right now, in the throes of "Stop it!" "Don't kick your brother!" "Obey me RIGHT NOW" and the never ending dishes...the early mornings...the snotty noses...the incessant whining...the poopy diapers...in all the ordinary and mundane that is motherhood. To be reminded this is a mission- gives it so much more significance.
