End of the Week Pics

It's been a long week, but I think an overall pretty good one. Here's some of what's going on:

Graham is funny- if you tell him to draw (or do anything, for that matter), he doesn't want to and it turns into a battle. But then I find him quietly doodling. He told me this was Daddy- beard and all!


It's January! Behn and I are continuing our annual tradition of watching Lord of the Rings and we let Graham watch the opening scenes in Hobbiton. He loved it, but then clonked out. Rare to have him fall asleep on me.


The boys seem to be in a new phase where they interact more. Sometimes this is nice and they sit together...


...but usually it just means more wrestling.


Over New Years weekend, Behn painted Graham's room blue! It really needed it. I got him some sports-themed bedding to go with the new look.


Patrick is growing up so much. He loves his collection of trash trucks and spends a lot of time 'playing garbage.' This kid has also been cracking me up with little songs and phrases. The other day I asked him what he wanted for lunch and he told me hot dogs. 10 minutes later, I heard him muttering. I asked him what he was talking about and he said, "I'm talking about hot dogs!" He also started singing, "I love apple sauce, I love apple sauce" as I scooped his apple sauce today.

Ok, few dear readers, I haven't heard from you much lately. Which I get...because sometimes this blog is kind of BOOOORRRRING! So, just for fun, here's what is going on currently: Currently Watching: Downton Abbey , like the rest of the world. The heard the season finale on Sunday is 'devastating.' How can anything be more devastating than episode 4?? Off the Bookshelf

I haven't done one of these in a while, but I have been reading. Here is what is on my bookshelf: The Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson I first got to know Clarkson when I read the book Desperate, which she co-authored with Sarah Mae. I friend from church had raved about Clarkson, and so lent me this book when I showed interest in more of her writing. I'm only a few chapters in, but loving it so far. And, frankly, I really need to be reading these sort of books right now, in the throes of "Stop it!" "Don't kick your brother!" "Obey me RIGHT NOW" and the never ending dishes...the early mornings...the snotty noses...the incessant whining...the poopy diapers...in all the ordinary and mundane that is motherhood. To be reminded this is a mission- gives it so much more significance. Patrick Wilford is Here!

Both of my boys (what, I have 2 boys?) are napping right now, so it's time to update this blog with Patrick's birth story before I forget the details. Words to describe Patrick's birth: terrifying. fast. wonderful. merciful. unforgettable. We'll start with Friday, September 7th. I had my 39 week OB appointment and was 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Promising, but no guarantee I'd go into labor too soon. However, I did go ahead and schedule an elective induction for the following Tuesday (the 11th) because I liked the idea of knowing I'd make it to the hospital, plus my favorite doctor was on call that day, plus Behn had that whole week off of work so I knew he'd be there for everything. So it just made sense, even though I did want to try to have another natural childbirth. On Saturday (the 8th), I was excited because I knew there was a coldfront coming in.
