Baby Boy is 11 Months Old!

I haven't been super-consistent with Patrick's monthly updates. I guess that is what happens with kid #2. But Behn and I just cannot believe baby is 11 months old- of course that means Mr. Sweetness will be 1 year old very soon!


Patrick is such a joy. He still has that sweet, content, happy personality that he's had all along.



Notable 11-month tidbits:
  • Is starting to stand independently...he's even taken a step or two!
  • Points to things
  • Waves 'hello' and 'goodbye'
  • Makes lots of funny babbling sounds, and now is always calling for me if I'm out of view- "Mama!!"
  • His hair is coming in fast. Blonde, of course, and a lot more whispy than Graham's did. In the back he has a little bit of curl.
  • He's a climber. No fear.
  • Sleeping through the night!!!! Plus 2 naps
  • Getting picky with foods. *sigh* It just seems to be something that happens with my kids.
  • One tooth on the bottom, and the one next to it is about to pop out too.
  • Is weaned (he truly did self-wean)
  • Plays with balls and cars appropriately
  • Tiny guy. He can still wear some 6-9 month things and much of his 12-month stuff is quite big. When he had pink eye 2 weeks ago, he weighed in at 17 lbs, 4 oz.
I think that's a pretty good summary. One more month of babyness!

    As always, what a cutie! Hooray for sleeping through the night! I love reading the updates. Still just baffles and amazes me how different each baby is.

      Thanks Jess! Yes, they are all so different, even between siblings, I am finding. So fun to watch them grow!

Ok, few dear readers, I haven't heard from you much lately. Which I get...because sometimes this blog is kind of BOOOORRRRING! Patrick Wilford is Here!

Both of my boys (what, I have 2 boys?) are napping right now, so it's time to update this blog with Patrick's birth story before I forget the details. Words to describe Patrick's birth: terrifying. fast. wonderful. merciful. unforgettable. We'll start with Friday, September 7th. I had my 39 week OB appointment and was 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Promising, but no guarantee I'd go into labor too soon. However, I did go ahead and schedule an elective induction for the following Tuesday (the 11th) because I liked the idea of knowing I'd make it to the hospital, plus my favorite doctor was on call that day, plus Behn had that whole week off of work so I knew he'd be there for everything. Off the Bookshelf

I haven't done one of these in a while, but I have been reading. Here is what is on my bookshelf: The Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson I first got to know Clarkson when I read the book Desperate, which she co-authored with Sarah Mae. I friend from church had raved about Clarkson, and so lent me this book when I showed interest in more of her writing. I'm only a few chapters in, but loving it so far. And, frankly, I really need to be reading these sort of books right now, in the throes of "Stop it!" "Don't kick your brother!" "Obey me RIGHT NOW" and the never ending dishes...the early mornings...the snotty noses...the incessant whining...the poopy diapers...in all the ordinary and mundane that is motherhood. To be reminded this is a mission- gives it so much more significance.
