Patrick- 6 months old!

Our littlest love is now 6 months old! Where does the time go?

Patrick is beyond cute. He is so smiley and happy- everyone who knows him loves him and loves being around him.

Patrick can:


  • Eat some solid food. He loves, loves eating.
  • Rolls around to get places, reach for toys.
  • Can sit up for around a minute all by himself. Unless he loses his balance and topples over.
  • Sleeps...ok. He takes great naps. Nights are still sort of up in the air. He went through a phase where he was waking up every 2 hours, but is doing a little better now. Still, he's up a lot. He likes being tightly swaddled while he sleeps. I started training him to sleep with his arms unswaddled so he can reach for his pacifier, but he didn't like it. We'll keep working on it. I am really looking forward to the day he's not in our room (still with us because we're at my parents' house). I think we'll both sleep better then.
  • I think he's teething, but no teeth have popped yet. He loves to chew on my fingers and any toys/binky he can get a hold of.
  • He's very observant and will watch his brother play or any activity around him. 
  • "Talks" in squeals. I'm often greeted by a big, happy squeal when I enter the room.
We love our lil guy!

    Awwww...he's precious! What is it with second children and sleep? I think they are afraid they will miss out of something in the middle of the night. =)

Ok, few dear readers, I haven't heard from you much lately. Which I get...because sometimes this blog is kind of BOOOORRRRING! Off the Bookshelf

I haven't done one of these in a while, but I have been reading. Here is what is on my bookshelf: The Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson I first got to know Clarkson when I read the book Desperate, which she co-authored with Sarah Mae. I friend from church had raved about Clarkson, and so lent me this book when I showed interest in more of her writing. I'm only a few chapters in, but loving it so far. And, frankly, I really need to be reading these sort of books right now, in the throes of "Stop it!" "Don't kick your brother!" "Obey me RIGHT NOW" and the never ending dishes...the early mornings...the snotty noses...the incessant whining...the poopy diapers...in all the ordinary and mundane that is motherhood. To be reminded this is a mission- gives it so much more significance. Patrick Wilford is Here!

Both of my boys (what, I have 2 boys?) are napping right now, so it's time to update this blog with Patrick's birth story before I forget the details. Words to describe Patrick's birth: terrifying. fast. wonderful. merciful. unforgettable. We'll start with Friday, September 7th. I had my 39 week OB appointment and was 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Promising, but no guarantee I'd go into labor too soon. However, I did go ahead and schedule an elective induction for the following Tuesday (the 11th) because I liked the idea of knowing I'd make it to the hospital, plus my favorite doctor was on call that day, plus Behn had that whole week off of work so I knew he'd be there for everything.
