No House Yet

We're still house searching.

Ugh. (sorry...just had to get that out there)

This week we were under contract with a cute little house that we thought might just work for us. It was a short sale and underpriced.

Then we had the inspection, which overall went well; but there were just enough concerns about the property to make us decide to walk away.

It's ok, really. We do not want a house that is not right for us, that's going to cost us money in the long run. We believe God is protecting us from that and is still by our side as we look.

But it's still a tiring process, that's for sure. And due to some restrictions in the mortgage we qualified for, there's not much inventory in our price range.

I wish we had known how pricey it is even to shop for a house. There's all the gas you spend running around looking for a house; then there's inspection fees, having the well tested, having the septic tank pumped, etc. And that's before you even get into the house! We haven't had to pay all those things yet (although we have lost some money), but every time we write up an offer we realize that we will have to pay for all those things before closing. It's expensive.

And then, once we own a home and the hot water heater breaks....that's on US. Behn and I have definitely had some moments lately where we're wondering if we're even ready for this. We're pressing on for now, but cautiously. We're praying for wisdom- no, we're praying for some kind of super-wisdom, haha. We want to do what God wants us to do, to use our resources for Him. All we have belongs to Him, anyway.

So, that's where we're at right now. It's been a rough few days, honestly.

  1. I'm right there with you. We contacted a realtor around Thanksgiving and since then we've only been inside of 2 homes. We have yet to deal with the frustration of trying to make an offer though.

    1. Yep, it's a pain. I hope the outcome is worth it though. Kind of like childbirth.
