10 Months Old and Weekend in Maryland

Graham is now 10 months old!! A currently very cranky 10-month old at that. Where did my happy little boy go? He'll be back, he's just growing teeth right now :)

At 10 month Graham:


  • Says 'dadada,' 'na', 'ga,' 'ba,' 'ka', 'ma.' etc. These noises spontaneously errupted about 2 weeks ago.

  • Claps his hands

  • Waves goodbye (when he feels like it)

  • Plays "So big!" (when he feels like it)

  • Cut his first tooth! It's a big one on the top and is barely poking out, but is causing all kinds of misery, nasty diapers, and clingyness. The other top one and 2 bottom ones are also right under the gum. ouch!

  • Loves his blue blanket. Cute to see how he snuggles with it.

He's a sweetie and I know this (cutting teeth) is just a phase. I'm looking forward to these teeth being in and him going back to being his easy-going self.


We spent the weekend at my parent's house in MD. It was fun, as always. We missed seeing Grandma and Grandpa, as Grandpa was still in the hospital recovering from his heart procedure, but are looking forward to seeing them at Thanksgiving. We enjoyed our time with my parents and brothers though, and Graham got lots of sweet attention. Autumn is such a lovely time to drive through Virginia and G did well in the car. I'll try to post a few pics later...I didn't take many (oops!) but have 1 or 2.

Ok, few dear readers, I haven't heard from you much lately. Which I get...because sometimes this blog is kind of BOOOORRRRING! Patrick Wilford is Here!

Both of my boys (what, I have 2 boys?) are napping right now, so it's time to update this blog with Patrick's birth story before I forget the details. Words to describe Patrick's birth: terrifying. fast. wonderful. merciful. unforgettable. We'll start with Friday, September 7th. I had my 39 week OB appointment and was 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Promising, but no guarantee I'd go into labor too soon. However, I did go ahead and schedule an elective induction for the following Tuesday (the 11th) because I liked the idea of knowing I'd make it to the hospital, plus my favorite doctor was on call that day, plus Behn had that whole week off of work so I knew he'd be there for everything. Off the Bookshelf

I haven't done one of these in a while, but I have been reading. Here is what is on my bookshelf: The Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson I first got to know Clarkson when I read the book Desperate, which she co-authored with Sarah Mae. I friend from church had raved about Clarkson, and so lent me this book when I showed interest in more of her writing. I'm only a few chapters in, but loving it so far. And, frankly, I really need to be reading these sort of books right now, in the throes of "Stop it!" "Don't kick your brother!" "Obey me RIGHT NOW" and the never ending dishes...the early mornings...the snotty noses...the incessant whining...the poopy diapers...in all the ordinary and mundane that is motherhood. To be reminded this is a mission- gives it so much more significance.
