Thwarted Plans

It's Friday. Another busy week is past. And we had plans this weekend, oh boy, did we have plans. Then this happened:

I love rain. It's peaceful and calming and fresh and necessary to life. But we were supposed to go camping tonight. Camping in a tent with a 9 month-old was going to be a challenge, but add rain to the mix and it would be unhappy. So, our plans have changed. The nice thing is there isn't a cancellation fee at the camp. And maybe we can try next Friday night.

In a way, it's ok we have to cancel. Now the 3 of us can spend a cozy (dry) night bonding in our home. And tomorrow it's supposed to be nicer so we can even still go to the campsite and enjoy God's creation. Behn and I are taking a break from Facebook, so I'll make sure to take/post some Graham pics on here. Maybe even a video!

Patrick Wilford is Here!

Both of my boys (what, I have 2 boys?) are napping right now, so it's time to update this blog with Patrick's birth story before I forget the details. Words to describe Patrick's birth: terrifying. fast. wonderful. merciful. unforgettable. We'll start with Friday, September 7th. I had my 39 week OB appointment and was 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Promising, but no guarantee I'd go into labor too soon. However, I did go ahead and schedule an elective induction for the following Tuesday (the 11th) because I liked the idea of knowing I'd make it to the hospital, plus my favorite doctor was on call that day, plus Behn had that whole week off of work so I knew he'd be there for everything. How We Will Be Spending Our Summer

Yesterday we got our fingerprints done. Because obviously people don't just go get a casual set of fingerprints done, there must be a reason, right? The reason is that this summer our little family will be hosting a little girl from Ukraine! V is living in an orphanage, but this summer she will get to experience the love of a family as we welcome her to our home. She is so young, only 6, and it breaks our heart that kids grow up in orphanages. We are thrilled that God has called us to be part of her life. Behn and I have always felt the draw to care for orphans and kids from hard places. We actually went to Ukraine on an Orphan Care trip 5 years ago. (Read about it here ). When God led us to buy a house with a extra space, we knew we wanted to share it; we just did not know how we would. And now we do know- this summer it will be filled with a little girl.
