Patrick at 3 Months

It has been almost 3 months since I first got to hold Patrick- he is growing tooooo fast! Here are some tidbits on my littlest guy:

  • Is a good sleeper! (Well, better than Graham was at least). He only wakes up once a night usually and he goes back to sleep really quickly after eating.
  • Speaking of eating, this kid can eat! He still spits up a bit, but I'm not worried because he's got some major chunk on his legs.  He's obviously getting plenty! He's in 3-6 month clothes now. We'll see how much he weighs at the doctor in a few weeks.
  • Can hold his head up and has rolled over twice. 
  • Is SO happy! He smiles if you just look at him. I think everyone is really enjoying having such a cute, happy baby around....except for...
  • He does have a temper! And since he's so strong, if he's unhappy, it's rough. He doesn't like to be away from Mama, so if I'm around he's ok.
  • Has found his fingers (see above picture)
I just want to say also that Graham is so incredibly sweet with Patrick. I love the brother interaction. I pray they'll always be close. I just love these boys!

Ok, few dear readers, I haven't heard from you much lately. Which I get...because sometimes this blog is kind of BOOOORRRRING! So, just for fun, here's what is going on currently: Currently Watching: Downton Abbey , like the rest of the world. The heard the season finale on Sunday is 'devastating.' Patrick Wilford is Here!

Both of my boys (what, I have 2 boys?) are napping right now, so it's time to update this blog with Patrick's birth story before I forget the details. Words to describe Patrick's birth: terrifying. fast. wonderful. merciful. unforgettable. We'll start with Friday, September 7th. I had my 39 week OB appointment and was 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Promising, but no guarantee I'd go into labor too soon. However, I did go ahead and schedule an elective induction for the following Tuesday (the 11th) because I liked the idea of knowing I'd make it to the hospital, plus my favorite doctor was on call that day, plus Behn had that whole week off of work so I knew he'd be there for everything. Off the Bookshelf

I haven't done one of these in a while, but I have been reading. Here is what is on my bookshelf: The Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson I first got to know Clarkson when I read the book Desperate, which she co-authored with Sarah Mae. I friend from church had raved about Clarkson, and so lent me this book when I showed interest in more of her writing. I'm only a few chapters in, but loving it so far. And, frankly, I really need to be reading these sort of books right now, in the throes of "Stop it!" "Don't kick your brother!" "Obey me RIGHT NOW" and the never ending dishes...the early mornings...the snotty noses...the incessant whining...the poopy diapers...in all the ordinary and mundane that is motherhood. To be reminded this is a mission- gives it so much more significance.
