Poor, Abandoned Little Blog

We've been busy on vacation in Delaware, spending LOTS of wonderful time with family and friends. The week flew by...we made so many great memories, which I'll be sharing on here. I thought I would blog while we were away, but ended up not feeling like it, and that's the great thing about blogs...you only have to if you want to!

During our getaway, Graham hit the 8 month mark! At 8 months, Graham is:


  • Crawling! He learned this early in the month and nothin' can stop him now! (Except a gate. Love having some gates in this house to contain my son).

  • Pulling himself up to standing. He thinks he's SO big :)

  • Continuing to enjoy lots of different solid foods and "puffs." Mmmm.

  • Making more sounds and laughing easily when daddy tickles his face with his whiskers.

  • Is a little blondie. Each day his soft hair grows in more.

  • Does amazing putting himself to sleep. This was a tough love lesson to learn. I still nurse him before nap/bed, but put him down awake. My life is easier and I like that he's independent enough to do this for himself.

  • Has good eye/hand coordination.

Ok, few dear readers, I haven't heard from you much lately. Which I get...because sometimes this blog is kind of BOOOORRRRING! So, just for fun, here's what is going on currently: Currently Watching: Downton Abbey , like the rest of the world. The heard the season finale on Sunday is 'devastating.' Patrick Wilford is Here!

Both of my boys (what, I have 2 boys?) are napping right now, so it's time to update this blog with Patrick's birth story before I forget the details. Words to describe Patrick's birth: terrifying. fast. wonderful. merciful. unforgettable. We'll start with Friday, September 7th. I had my 39 week OB appointment and was 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Promising, but no guarantee I'd go into labor too soon. However, I did go ahead and schedule an elective induction for the following Tuesday (the 11th) because I liked the idea of knowing I'd make it to the hospital, plus my favorite doctor was on call that day, plus Behn had that whole week off of work so I knew he'd be there for everything. Off the Bookshelf

I haven't done one of these in a while, but I have been reading. Here is what is on my bookshelf: The Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson I first got to know Clarkson when I read the book Desperate, which she co-authored with Sarah Mae. I friend from church had raved about Clarkson, and so lent me this book when I showed interest in more of her writing. I'm only a few chapters in, but loving it so far. And, frankly, I really need to be reading these sort of books right now, in the throes of "Stop it!" "Don't kick your brother!" "Obey me RIGHT NOW" and the never ending dishes...the early mornings...the snotty noses...the incessant whining...the poopy diapers...in all the ordinary and mundane that is motherhood. To be reminded this is a mission- gives it so much more significance.
