Our New Home

Well, we did it. We moved to northern Maryland, about 2 hours away from our old home. We now live in a completely new to us community. We are about 30- 60 minutes away from much of our family (as opposed to 3 hours) and we are settling in well. We live in a cute neighborhood in a tiny, one-stop light town which is surrounded by miles and miles of farms.

I'm surprised and thrilled with how quickly we've made friends. We plugged into a church 20 minutes away. The boys and I started homeschooling, and have new friends within the homeschool community. We've reconnected with old friends and already hosted a birthday party with family. Our neighbors are fantastic so far, and the boys love riding their bikes in the evenings with new friends. (Note- they learned to ride their bikes!). We enjoyed the tiny, free pool in our town until it closed for the season. It's quite literally a 2 minute drive to get there, and I'm already looking forward to it re-opening next summer. We've explored new parks, as well as enjoyed parks that we've known our whole lives.

We are incredibly thankful for God's kindness during this transition. It has had its challenges, of course. One of our sons struggles through transitions, which has been manifested in hard behavior. Moving was more expensive than we anticipated, so we close but not quite yet debt free. Our goal is by the end of the year- thanks for the guidance, Dave Ramsey! Unpacking a house completely on my own with 3 kids underfoot was stressful (Behn helped when he could).  As was and is the learning curve of homeschooling and tutoring our Classical Conversations community. I've never felt *quite* so busy.

Overall, though, everything has been fantastic. I'm loving homeschooling (did I just admit that??). Family on both sides was incredibly helpful during the move. I've found babysitters for extra support. Behn was able to pay cash for a car that he needed for his longer commute. I'm feeling optimistic in this new season. Thanks be to God!
