Long Overdue


Behn and I have been holding out for Labor Day weekend for months. It's been a crazy summer, and we haven't been able to spend much time together. We were never able to celebrate out 2 year anniversary in June since we had family visiting (and moving in) at that time, so we decided to put it off until life calmed down. Well, we finally made it to this weekend!

Behn and I decided to get away and camp. We haven't camped since we moved to VA (which is a crying shame), so we packed up and headed out. The weather was perfect for camping: cool and clear. Is Autumn creeping in? That's ok with us! The campsite was a little crowded (Labor Day weekend) but we really enjoyed the time in the fresh air and around the campfire.



It has been such a treasure to spend time talking and dreaming and thinking on the past and the future. The baby has been very active this weekend too, he must know his parents are finally relaxed and are talking about him a lot.



We are so blessed!

Ok, few dear readers, I haven't heard from you much lately. Which I get...because sometimes this blog is kind of BOOOORRRRING! Patrick Wilford is Here!

Both of my boys (what, I have 2 boys?) are napping right now, so it's time to update this blog with Patrick's birth story before I forget the details. Words to describe Patrick's birth: terrifying. fast. wonderful. merciful. unforgettable. We'll start with Friday, September 7th. I had my 39 week OB appointment and was 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Promising, but no guarantee I'd go into labor too soon. However, I did go ahead and schedule an elective induction for the following Tuesday (the 11th) because I liked the idea of knowing I'd make it to the hospital, plus my favorite doctor was on call that day, plus Behn had that whole week off of work so I knew he'd be there for everything. Off the Bookshelf

I haven't done one of these in a while, but I have been reading. Here is what is on my bookshelf: The Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson I first got to know Clarkson when I read the book Desperate, which she co-authored with Sarah Mae. I friend from church had raved about Clarkson, and so lent me this book when I showed interest in more of her writing. I'm only a few chapters in, but loving it so far. And, frankly, I really need to be reading these sort of books right now, in the throes of "Stop it!" "Don't kick your brother!" "Obey me RIGHT NOW" and the never ending dishes...the early mornings...the snotty noses...the incessant whining...the poopy diapers...in all the ordinary and mundane that is motherhood. To be reminded this is a mission- gives it so much more significance.
