We're here!


Hello everyone!

We're here in Lexington! We survived moving and setting up electric, water, internet etc. The place is looking a little cluttered still, but much better than 2 days ago. Soon it will feel like home.

God was gracious to us the past week. Moving, though tiring, went well. No accidents or pulled muscles. We really appreciated our friend Kiri and Behn's brother Luke helping us load up the truck. Behn and I managed to unload the whole thing ourselves once we got here. Even though we've been hard at work these past days, we've been able to enjoy Lexington and the area. The weather's been perfect, and today we spent the afternoon out on Goshen Pass, about 15 miles away. We had fun playing in the clean, fresh water with Gruff.

Next post: Showing you around our town. For now, enjoy this clip of Gruff and Behn in the river. It's pretty hilarious; Gruff's a big sissy, but by the end of the day he did a lot better in the water!

Ok, few dear readers, I haven't heard from you much lately. Which I get...because sometimes this blog is kind of BOOOORRRRING! Patrick Wilford is Here!

Both of my boys (what, I have 2 boys?) are napping right now, so it's time to update this blog with Patrick's birth story before I forget the details. Words to describe Patrick's birth: terrifying. fast. wonderful. merciful. unforgettable. We'll start with Friday, September 7th. I had my 39 week OB appointment and was 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Promising, but no guarantee I'd go into labor too soon. However, I did go ahead and schedule an elective induction for the following Tuesday (the 11th) because I liked the idea of knowing I'd make it to the hospital, plus my favorite doctor was on call that day, plus Behn had that whole week off of work so I knew he'd be there for everything. Off the Bookshelf

I haven't done one of these in a while, but I have been reading. Here is what is on my bookshelf: The Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson I first got to know Clarkson when I read the book Desperate, which she co-authored with Sarah Mae. I friend from church had raved about Clarkson, and so lent me this book when I showed interest in more of her writing. I'm only a few chapters in, but loving it so far. And, frankly, I really need to be reading these sort of books right now, in the throes of "Stop it!" "Don't kick your brother!" "Obey me RIGHT NOW" and the never ending dishes...the early mornings...the snotty noses...the incessant whining...the poopy diapers...in all the ordinary and mundane that is motherhood. To be reminded this is a mission- gives it so much more significance.
